Pottery/Throwing Taster-Sat 7.00-9.30pm
Starting Sat 7th Sep 2019 - Saturday Evenings.
- 35 British pounds£35
- Garnham Street
This is a pottery taster class with an emphasis on throwing. You will learn to wedge your clay in preparation for throwing on the potters wheel. After centring your clay on the wheel, you will open and pull up the walls of your pot. In addition to throwing on the wheel, you will also be introduced to handbuilding techniques (slab building, pinching and coiling). At the end of the taster you will have made a beautiful pinch pot with lid. Your pot will then be put on a shelf to dry for several days. Once dry, it will be ready for it’s first bisque firing in the kiln. After the bisque fire, your pot will be glazed for you and once again put through the kiln, but this time for the final glaze firing. Collection dates for your pots will be posted on the Sak Beh Pottery website two or three weeks after the class. Due to limited shelf and storage space, pots or work that remain uncollected one month after notification will (sadly) be disposed of. All classes take place at Sak Beh Studio Pottery, Stoke Newington.
